How Construction-Weather.com collects, uses and protects your information.

This Privacy Policy describes how Construction-Weather.com ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and protects information when you use our website, web platform or Construction Weather: Ops mobile app (shown as CW Ops on your device). Services described below apply when you use the relevant feature; the mobile app does not contain every website feature.

Delete your Construction Weather account and associated data

1. Who we are

Construction-Weather.com is a weather intelligence platform for the construction industry, providing trade forecasts, historical data, time-extension evidence tools, early warning notice drafting and tender planning services. 2. Information we collect

Account information

When you sign in we collect the information provided by your identity provider (currently Clerk), which may include your name, email address, whether that email address has been verified, and a unique user identifier. Access to the live tools is moving to free accounts with a verified email address; no payment details are needed during the open beta. We do not store passwords.

Usage data

We collect information about how you use the platform — pages visited, tools used, location searches performed and features accessed. This helps us improve the service and diagnose problems.

Location data

The platform requires a project location (coordinates or place name) to retrieve weather data. This location is sent to third-party weather APIs to fulfil your request. We may store recent locations to improve the experience within your session. We do not share your project locations with third parties for marketing purposes.

Limited account usage measurement

To understand whether the tools are useful, we may record a minimal account usage record: an opaque account identifier, the type of tool action (for example, a successful forecast, tender assessment, historical report or export) and the time. This account usage summary is kept by us as first-party records and is not intended to contain report contents, contract text, precise site locations or email addresses. Separately, the website and web app continue to use Google Analytics for page and product events (see section 4); we do not send email addresses to Google Analytics. Owner and test accounts are excluded from customer reporting.

Construction Weather: Ops mobile app

Native sign-up requires an email address, password and email verification. Clerk handles authentication and persistent client/session identifiers; our application server does not store your password. Optional profile information available through the shared web account is separate from the native sign-up form.

Device location permission is optional. You can search for a site manually instead. If you choose device location, the app requests foreground location at the accuracy permitted by your device and sends coordinates to retrieve forecasts and place names. It does not request background location tracking. A chosen project location may be different from your own physical location.

Location search terms and coordinates are sent to our server and onward to weather and geocoding providers. Map tiles are requested from OpenStreetMap; those requests reveal the requested map area, network address and request metadata to the map service. Providers may retain request records under their own policies.

Saved sites, units and preferences are stored on your device. Site notes and generated report files are handled locally; exported files remain wherever you save or share them. Sharing a report uses an app or recipient you choose. Signing out does not remove saved sites or already exported files.

The native app sends feature-use events, such as forecast views and operation selections, with event identifiers, times and limited properties to our server logs. It temporarily queues events on the device for retry. This native event endpoint does not forward these events to Google Analytics. There is no user-facing switch to turn this event collection off; exclusion from customer reports does not stop these separate logs. Opening the web platform from the app may involve the website's analytics.

Optional marketing consent

Practical tips and product update emails are optional and separate from your account. They are only sent if you actively choose them, and declining does not restrict access to the tools. Where you opt in, we keep a record of the consent wording, when and where it was given, and any withdrawal. You can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us. Weather alerts you request and essential account or security messages are separate from marketing, and existing alert subscribers are not added to marketing emails automatically.

Payment information

If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is handled by Stripe. We do not store card numbers or bank details. We receive confirmation of payment and a Stripe customer reference to manage your subscription status.

Communications

If you contact us by email we retain that correspondence to handle your enquiry. If you opt in to email alerts or reports, we store your email address and alert preferences to deliver those messages.

3. How we use your information

  • To provide and operate the platform and its features
  • To deliver weather data, forecasts and exported documents you request
  • To send alert emails, weekly reports and digest emails you have configured
  • To manage your subscription and process billing via Stripe
  • To improve the platform based on usage patterns
  • To respond to support and sales enquiries
  • To comply with legal obligations

4. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to operate the platform:

  • Open-Meteo — weather data API (forecast and archive). Location coordinates are transmitted to Open-Meteo to retrieve weather data.
  • Nominatim / OpenStreetMap — location searches, reverse geocoding and map tiles. Search terms, coordinates or map tile areas are transmitted as needed.
  • BigDataCloud — fallback reverse geocoding; coordinates may be sent if the primary service cannot resolve the location.
  • Resend — delivery of requested emails and opted-in product messages, using recipient email addresses and message content.
  • Stripe — payment processing and subscription management.
  • OpenAI — AI drafting of early warning notice documents. Text content you provide (project names, conditions) may be sent to OpenAI to generate draft documents.
  • Google Analytics (GA4) — website and web-app analytics, such as page views and product events, not the native app's first-party event endpoint. Advertising storage and personalisation are denied by default. We do not send email addresses to Google Analytics.
  • Clerk — account sign-in and email verification.
  • Replit — infrastructure provider.

Each of these providers operates under their own privacy policies. We do not sell your data to any third party.

5. Data retention

Account data is retained while your account is active. Alert configurations and monitor records are retained until you delete them or close your account. Daily account-level tool-use records are retained for 12 months, with automated cleanup at server startup and daily while running. We retain first and most recent tool-use dates and whether you returned within 7 or 28 days while your account remains active; these minimal facts keep return-rate reports accurate when older daily records expire. These records do not contain your report contents or site coordinates. Marketing consent records are kept while your account remains active. If you request deletion of your account and data, contact us at Enquiry@Construction-Weather.com.

6. Cookies and local storage

Server operational logs, including native feature-use events, are separate from the daily account-usage records described above. The 12-month account-usage cleanup does not apply to these logs. Their retention follows the hosting/logging service configuration; we do not currently promise a fixed automatic deletion period for these logs. Account closure does not selectively remove records from operational logs. Contact us with questions or a deletion request concerning these records.

Delete your Construction Weather account

These instructions apply to Construction Weather: Ops (CW Ops) and the Construction Weather web platform. Deletion closes the shared account for both, not just the app on one device.

  1. Open Account preferences and sign in with the same email address you use in the app. Complete email verification if requested.
  2. Find Delete your account and select Delete my account….
  3. Read the consequences, type DELETE MY ACCOUNT, and select Permanently delete my account.

If you cannot sign in or your account has linked billing, email us to request account deletion from your registered email address. We may need to verify ownership; never send your password. We will respond within 30 days. Opening this page, signing out or uninstalling the app does not delete your account.

Account closure: You can request permanent closure from Account preferences after signing in and verifying your email. Confirmation removes linked server records, requested weather subscriptions, push subscriptions, marketing consent and usage history. Identity deletion is retried if the sign-in provider is unavailable; closed accounts cannot continue using authenticated services. Accounts with billing references require support review before closure so recurring charges are not overlooked. Required payment records held by the payment provider are not erased by this process.

We keep a minimal closure marker containing opaque account identifiers, a hashed email address and closure timestamps for 30 days after completion to block stale sessions and suppress queued emails. Pending closures remain recorded until resolved. Accounts deleted directly through the sign-in provider are checked periodically while the server is running; use the app's account-closure action for prompt removal of linked records. Downloaded files and device-local data must be removed on each device separately. Contact Enquiry@Construction-Weather.com for help, including billing-linked closure.

We use session cookies to keep you signed in. We may use local storage to preserve application state (selected units, recent locations) between visits. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising purposes.

7. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction you may have rights to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at Enquiry@Construction-Weather.com. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls on our infrastructure. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

The platform is intended for use by construction industry professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the platform or by email. The date at the top of this page shows when the policy was last revised.
